15 tries to get logged in. This site is a joke.
Yesterday it happened to me too, I was trying to log in but I got an error message.
I tried it 15 minutes later and logged in without problem.

The software that is used for this forum (phpBB) was originally introduced on December 16, 2000.

Developer(s) phpBB Limited
Initial release December 16, 2000
Stable release 3.3.8 (2022-06-26; 3 months ago)
Repositorygithub.com/phpbb/phpbb
Written in PHP
Size7.54 MB (compressed)
Available in 54 languages
Type: Internet forum

I see that the software was updated in in June of 2022.
HOWEVER, if any of you are on other sites, you will notice that this site requires you to "jump thru" numerous hoops to upload a picture, and heaven forbid if you try to upload a video. It's simply not happening.
There is no such thing as simply copying a photo from you stored pics on your computer and "dropping" them here.

I find it somewhat sad that a company brand like Excalibur cannot come up with a "User Friendly" Forum. :eusa-deadhorse:

I personally am quite loyal to the Excalibur brand. I know several others on here who are the same way. I have persuaded several of my cohorts to buy Excalibur Crossbows.
NONE of them have signed onto the Forum. :eusa-snooty:
WHY? :eusa-think:
They say it's simply too big a hassle. And when they have repeatedly tried to do so, they can never get in.

Let's face it, Excalibur Crossbows are the Cadillac of recurves crossbows. The Customer Service is without a doubt the best in the industry.
BUT, the Forum page, well, it chases rabbits and howls at the moon.

Okay, the old, cantankerous Redneck from East Texas will shut up now.

Y'all be SAFE out there!!

I've had trouble last week but I could always get in. Peter tells me that updating is in the plans for coming year. It is marketing that has that responsibility. Marketing is done by Bowtech.
   I just sent a nasty email to Peter. Knowing that it is not his doing, I hope he relays the message to the "powers" that be. If you don't try, you'll never succeed. :eusa-deadhorse:

Sometimes the remedy is worse than the disease if it is not done well and with the desire to do it, I remember a Spanish forum in which 3 years ago I used to post, that they updated from phpBB to Vbulletin and it was a disaster.
Many years of valuable posts and information were lost and it was impossible to navigate the forum comfortably...

Don, didn't I see somewhere that Bowtech had recently been bought by another firm?
Or, it may have been a case of too much Crown on my part!!

I look forward to the updates!!
Thanks for the info!!

There's a pretty big difference with this forum and most other forums. I've never been on a brand sponsored forum that gets traffic like this one. Most are dead if not completely ignored for months at a time.

People have been complaining about this for years, but to compare this forum to a forum like CBN, rokslide, or CGN is not even close to apple to apples. They run financially on advertising, sponsorships and memberships. I pay to use the functions of almost all other forums I'm on. That's the truth.

This one is totally free. And you NEVER have to worry about a forum refreshing and your finger (or cursor for those who still own a PC) being over a strategically placed ad to pay that hours bandwidth bill. Hell!, you can't even go directly from the forum and buy an excalibur crossbow without going to a new site, at least not on the mobile site.

This forum is an anomaly, would it be nice to be better, updated and easier, sure. But that cost money, and let's face it...they ain't asking us for it, so why should we complain. It's the definition of a loss leader.

Paulaboutform has not been able to access this Forum for quite a while now.
Last chatting with him a couple of days ago, he seemed about to give up.

Any Mod or Admin that could help??

Hoping...

Perhaps I am misled, or mistaken, or flat out wrong. But Bowtech bought Excalibur, and they also bought Diamond, Octane and Stryker.
This conglomerate was then sold to ATK, correct? Which owns all kinds of sporting good franchises which include Federal Ammunition, Bushnell and others.
Then this was sold to Northrup Grumman. Which is a conglomerate worth $55 billion. :eusa-deadhorse:

How is this website a "loss leader"?

I understand that Northrup is a huge company and that crossbows are the last thing on their minds. I just wish "the little folks" mattered every now and then.

And then maybe again, I just like to complain. :eusa-dance:

How is this website a "loss leader"?

A loss leader is anything a company does at a loss. Typically to promote sales, gain market share, or generally keep their customers interest.

This website, cost bowtech money to keep us buying and over all advertising for excalibur. It does not directly earn them near what it cost them.

As I mentioned, until we start paying for it, or ads start popping up. It is what it is.

I bought my excalibur because of the forum, seeing how happy people on this forum were with their crossbows.
Maybe they won't win directly, but this site is a good publicity. :D

I also bought an Excalibur because of this forum, it was a big help and wealth of knowledge in making the decision on which crossbow to purchase.
One thing that stood out was the excellent CUSTOMER SERVICE that was frequently mentioned and being able to get these bows back in working order in short time either in the field or at home. Proper brace height was mentioned many times which I keep a close eye on, I have seen many bows where the string is pushing hard enough into the R.E.D.S to deform them, apparently there are those that have never read this forum and should!
