Server String Separation

Post by Alex144 »

Just to level set, total newbie to the crossbow game.

Bought a new Micro 380, right off the shelf. Have only shot it about 20-30x.

Seeing some server string separation, on both sides of the rail. No fraying.

See attached pics.

Is this separation an issue ? Should I be replacing this string already ?

Is this an indication there might be another issue with the crossbow ? Thinking it may have been a faulty string from the manufacturer.

Appreciate the insights and feedback !!!

If you email the picture to me, I’ll post if for you. [email protected]
Separation at the hooks isn’t an immediate problem. Separation at the hooks or at the center is a sign of not enough twists or a string twisted the wrong way. When a string is new, it should sit more than 1/4” from the bumpers to anticipate some elongating of the string. I have a 380 and have no separation but then I don’t use the OE string.

Got a picture? Could also be from overcocking it. We'll be able to tell with a picture.

Those factory 380 strings with serving near the full length of the string are ridiculous. Get a good flemish from Boo, nchubterke, or Vixenmaster on this forum and kiss serving separation goodbye.
