Airbrakes for ExoMax

Post by Deanmac »

I have an old bow that got out a couple months ago, the rubber near the end of the limbs had just melted and ran everywhere????
The bow was in my basement, so I know it did not have a big temperature change. Anyone else had this issue?

I did a quick goggle search and did not see those rubber parts. Anyone know a source?

I joined this forum years ago, but it has been a while since I visited. Thanks in advance for any help to fix my bow.

There are no rubber objects near the limb tip originally.

The Airbrake pads are not forever rubber pads .

The rubber breaks down after time especially if you store your AB equipped Excal without removing the pads first, which leaves the pads under stress between the limb and mount bracket and degradation occurs even sooner if you did not maintain brace height during storage leading to additional stress on the pads.

I'm assuming the OP added air brakes to his Max at a later date. Contact you local dealer or Excalibur for a new set of pads.

You can remove the old pads and continue shooting without the pads, I might add.

Thanks for the replies. I Am sorry but I do not know how to post a picture on this site.
This the rubber near where the limb bolts to the frame. Appears around 3/8 inches thick, between the limb base and the metal. The pad on the end of the metal outside bracket is still in tack but looks old (that actually might be the airbrakes) The rubber in question has totally melted away.

I have a couple here I just pulled from some old DB bars .
You can have them for the cost of postage.
Gorilla Glue Blue top should keep them in place after a cleaning with accetone or alcohol

At the end of the day you could do a "longbow joe" and cut off Air Brakes near the bolt with a hacksaw and do no harm.

Personally, I would call Excalibur and ask them for the hardware to remove the DB bars. They may not charge you for what you need. The DB bars were designed to lower noise and while they did, the deer didn't care and the reduction in Dbs is minor.

Removing the DB bars reduces front end weight, a plus.
