Yep..we ain't gotstid any grizzly..lions tigers or bears nearby but my brother has one of these ruger Alaskans in the .454 it's a hoot to shoot honestly its so heavy and with the big grip the big cartridge doesn't bother me much with a toned down handload it's actually quite pleasant and you can shoot the .45 colt if your feeling whimpy. For a short barrel it's actually quite accurate I was really surprised.
From what I understand they are not making it in the .454 anymore he found me a brand new in the box specimen on a gun site and l "pulled the trigger "..
Oh well l don't believe l ever lost money buying a firearm so it's a whole lot safer than my 4 o 1 k right
now anyway lololololololol

Nice! I like that cartridge. I have a Freedom Arms in 454 Casull that originally came with a 4 3/5” bbl. Sent it back to have a 7 1/2 bbl installed after shooting it a bit. It is quite surprising how fast it put down mulies and antelope. If you can hunt deer with a handgun, you should consider giving it a try.

I remember the good old days when we could legally buy a handgun in Canada for target shooting!!!!
