Horrid stories of Thanksgivings past

Post by longbow joe »

My mother was polish Thanksgiving was loaded with the most delicious ethnic baked goods that are made by me today... but simply never duplicated as good as moms .
They were made on her sacred bread board ...basically a piece of oak wood almost like plywood that was handed down a few generations it meant more to her as a family tool than what it was
I was keenly aware of its importance of the sacred wood but my brother mike was often out getting into trouble doing his own
young adult stuff basically obvious to stuff back then.
Our Pennsylvania gun deer season was always the first Monday after Thanksgiving. Mr mike went into the garage and wacked a big piece of wood from moms cutting board to make a "seat for his treestand "
Omgg l can still hear the fireworks in my head ...
Poor mom ......he tried to make it better cutting it into a smaller family jewel she wasn't buying it.
I'm going to remind him of it tomorrow.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Ps. I remember freezing my a$$ off during gun season that year cemented my future of a warmer weather bow hunter.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "Wow, What a Ride!
