Vane color

Post by Nitro »

Hi Folks.
Brand new to crossbows, just picked up the Micro Mag 340. I ordered some vanes recently. The pictures showed a light green vane, but they came with white. I don't think it'll make that much difference, but what color do you folks prefer for hunting.

It's mostly personal preference, but white will show blood, I like green so I use fluorescent green.

Nothing in Nature is PINK.

Vanes combined with pink wraps and bright Luminoks very much increase your odds of finding your arrows.

I prefer at least one white to determine blood type.

I just set a white one and one of the greens that came with the bow out in the woods, and to my eyes the green is much more easily noticed. I'm really not a fan of unannounced substitutions in my orders. I'm thinking of dropping the seller a note.

I like white!! But I would never use it to hunt in the snow. Here it is very rare that it snows. In contrast to the green and the fallen leaves it looks quite good.

Nog, I was thinking of inviting you to hunt pink unicorns in my lavender fields, but seeing your arrows, better not...

Of course, if you went hunting on gay pride day you would drive the CSIs crazy.

Excal has been shipping white and green alternatively for as long as I've known of them. It's not a substitution, they ship from factory that way.

Those vanes will likely get ripped up quick anyway. Everyone new to Excal shoots off their first set of arrow vanes. It's a right of passage. You will also Robin hood

The last order I had Boo construct had one white cock vane.
For that very reason.

When I had Norman build my last batch, I had one vane that was fluorescent Yellow. Works well for me, shows blood and is easy to see. My others all have at least one white vane!!

But Matt...I must say, those "Pank" arras (as Paul would say), are quite colorful!!!
