Ruger 30-30

Post by Robinsons Rebel »

Just saw the other day that Ruger should be releasing their 30-30 sometime within the next couple of months. Didn't see a price for it yet though. Don't really need another rifle but I've had an itch for this for a while. Gives me something to look forward to till next hunting season.

If they do the 30-30 as well as they did the 45-70 it should be a solid home run for them.

The only thing I can't get my head around, is why the insist on threading the barrel on everything. It's obviously a Ruger thing, and I'm totally for function, but come on who's seriously going to buy a 16" trapper for bush work and then put a tube on it?.

Ruger bought the manufacturing rights to the Marlin line of products .
They have just in the last year released the lever gun in 45.70 and the next one they are working on is a 30.30 lever action I believe in the 336 model not the 1895.

You should get one you will love it.
I bought my first lever action last summer a 1950es Marlin "Waffel Top" 30.30 and it has very quickly become a favorite in my collection.
Every thing I have herd about the Ruger , Marlins has been very good feed back on quality and function.

Yes its the lever action 336c that is coming out. Like I said, I've wanted one for a while. Planned on topping it with a Vortex 3-9x40 V brite and using Hornady Leverevolution or Winchester Supreme ammo.

I'd recommend having a look at Federal Hammerdown.
Nice ammo. Super smooth I'm my 45-70. When I can find some I'm going to get some for my 30-30 Spikehorn.

There are a few youtube clips out there from the SHOT show on the Model 336c in .30-30 and Model 1894 in 44 magnum. We're supposed to see both by spring. I took my first buck in 1981 with a Marlin Model 1894 .44 mag. I was the odd duck because everyone else in the family was carrying the .30-30 instead.

Janesy, apparently you weren't the only one telling Ruger to leave well enough alone and it seems they're listening. From the looks of the videos, they are staying true to the originals. Well, almost. Our early 1980s models didn't have the additional push button safety that the later and newer models include.

I hope my local gun shop never has one of the 44s with pretty furniture. At the least this should help bring the prices back down on the older guns. They've gotten downright pricey since they've been out of production for a while.

My friend Mario bought a marlin 336 back in 1974 at 15 years old with paper route money ...we put a weaver 3 power scope on it ...he has killed a Pennsylvania buck basically every year and about 7 bear with it since that time of its purchase and he's in his 60's now.
Number one it was the bargain of a lifetime and to anyone who says a 30-30 is whimpy for deer and bear does not know what they are talking about.

Darn good hog gun too!!

I have a Mossberg 464 30-30. Sweet little lever action. I use Hornady’s 150 grain FTX 30-30 bullets in it. 1 1/2 inch grips at 100 yards on a bench rest and 4X scope.
