Youth day success!

Post by Hatchet »

Today was our Youth Day here in Maine. Ma Hatchet and I got up bright and early to set up a blind and get everything in order. My daughter Sophie and I headed to the blind and inadvertently spooked a nice Tom that has been hanging out behind our place all week. Luckily we were able to call him back to our decoy but he skirted around us and disappeared again. I slid the end of an arrow under the side of the blind and used it to scratch in the leaves and clucked very softly. It wasn't long before I heard my daughter suck in a big breath. "Here he comes" she hissed. He came back into the setup and began scratching in the leaves and pecking at the remnants of last years beech nuts. Finally he moved close enough to the decoy and I could tell that Sophie was about ready to send her old target worn Spynal Tapp arrow tipped with a Swat Xmag into him. Then my ears were treated to that satisfying "TINK" that comes when the Axe340 sends an arrow down the rail. At the hit the bird shot up into the air, but landed awkwardly and flopped away and out of our sight.!!!!YES!!!! I'm quite sure Ma Hatchet heard us celebrating all the way back at the house. High fives, hugs and just a bit of apprehension followed as we didn't really see where (or if) the bird came to rest.

Once we got out of the blind and laid our eyes on that bird we started to really whoop it up!

OK fellas I'll shut up and get you guys a pic! :D

Congratulations to both of you! You should be proud for teaching her well and she should be proud for executing what you taught her so successfully. Enjoy the turkey meat.
