Lake Bob Sandlin Project (Keeping Myself Busy)

Post by AJ01 »

As some of you fine gents know, since I retired from being a LEO several years ago I have kept myself busy doing construction work of a sort.
We have a company called Limestone Renovation; we change the looks of your tired old house.
This is a project we bid on 2 years ago, we won the contract, but it's been one delay after the other.
Hopefully we will wrap this project up next week.

YES...this is a NEW build.

Here of some pics of this over 10,000 square foot home sitting on the lake.

Now, just so you'll know, this was once a RED Brick home. A NEW red brick home.
Guy's wife wanted the "old world look", well, now she has it.
The home was over 2 million to build.

I have managed to fish the lake a couple of times during this job.
Once it's complete, I'm taking off for the summer.

Now y'all know why I've been busy lately!!

Hey Duck,

They have a HUGE boat house that has 2 boats and 4 jet skis parked at it. All the "toys" are up on lifts. It even has a wrap-around slide for the kids (who are now off to college) and I reckon, upcoming (future) grandkids.
Not too mention it too is split level.

Norman will like this part; the gentleman owns two Ford Dealerships. One in Mt. Pleasant and the other in Texarkana.
And Norman, I plan to be finished with this project in the next week, or so.

Look at the last pic posted. See that "retaining wall"?
Well that's a steel wall down in the lakebed and then covered with a cement walk that is 5 foot wide. Total length of that retaining wall?
At least a quarter mile. Wonder what that puppy cost??? :wtf:

I'm away from there for the weekend. Supposed to rain there all next week, so once more we will be delayed in wrapping it up. When I go back, I'll grab a pic of the boat house.

Until next time....

Well, the end is FINALLY in sight!!! :eusa-clap: :eusa-clap:
The outside is finished except for turf. Driveway is poured. Fountains will be installed next week. One goes in the circle in the drive. One behind the pony wall. and one out back you can only see from the lake.
Floors have been installed, ripped out, and re-installed. Don't ask.
Pool and hot tub are in with heaters!
Finish guys have about 2 weeks left inside, and the folks can MOVE IN!!!

What started out as a 1.8-million-dollar home with 10,500 SQ Feet has now totaled over 5 MILLION to BUILD!! :wtf:
A chandelier in the entrance cost over 35k.

Walk-thru is scheduled for this Friday, the 16th.
I thought this monster would NEVER end!!

Between weather delays. Design changes, and obnoxious "Interior Decorators", it's been a HUGE challenge.

The little boys ask, "How do you eat an Elephant? The wise man replied, One bite at a time"!!
