May 15th (National Police Officers Memorial Day)

Post by AJ01 »

May of 1962 JFK signed into law that May 15th would be National Police Officers Memorial Day to honor those men and women who had been killed in the line of duty.

A monument stands in Washington, D.C. for those souls who gave it all in service to their communities and states.
Austin has one at the State Capital to honor our officers here.

Please take a moment to give "Thanks" for those who sacrifice for the good of humanity.
Most of you will only ever interact with law enforcement when getting stopped for a traffic offense or to report a crime. The job is far more than that.

So sorry I missed that post AJ. Yes, Police and all Emergency responders are the heart & soul of civilization in my opinion, and the most dedicated people you could find!

Dan that's really okay. The folks that do that jobs are not in it for the money or fame. I knew as a kid in High School what I wanted to do with my life.
I feel I was BLESSED to be able to do it for so long.
I used to tell the rookies in the academy, "society has a love/hate relationship with most police officers. Most of them love to hate you".
I'm afraid that statement is even more true today in a society that has lost its moral compass. This country CANNOT print enough money to offer me that job these days. :eusa-snooty:
The little town I live in since retiring and coming home, has had 2 job openings now for over 2 years. No one will even apply; can you blame them? I cannot.
Dallas is over 1,000 officers understaffed, and has been like that for several years now, the so-called "City Council" installed there says "so what?", go figure, the city is now run by democrats. :wtf:

Abraham Lincoln was correct when he said “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
Here we are 153 years later.... :eusa-doh:

God Bless ya Dan! I hope your health is much better these days. I am sorry I haven't kept up with you!

We have lost a number of our brothers and sisters over the last year and they are truly hero's in life not death.

They made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Canadian catch and release courts complements of Mr Socks our commander in chief's bail reform is costing police officer's their lives. I am fortunate to have been able to retire 2 years ago but this s*it makes my blood boil.

To all my brothers and sisters still slugging it out in the trenches please stay safe and remember .. "it is better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6".

Cheers

Sandman, "Thank You" for your service!!
I meet a few Mounties back in the 90's at a long-range rifle school in Ohio. Really nice guys. Just as crazy as a couple of Rednecks from Texas.
Enjoy retirement!! You earned it!!

And a ditto to the following....
