Any new hunting products?

Post by Robinsons Rebel »

Are there any new hunting items out there that you are thinking about trying this year? I've been using an OL Man Multivision for my whole hunting career, so I finally bought a lighter tree stand. I still got an Ol Man but it's the Alumilite version. Other than that, I might get a muff type handwarmer. Any other gadgets that you might try this year?

+1 on your thought on getting a muff handwarmer.

One or two chemical heating packs inside wearing a light gloves set is all you need to be very comfortable.

US made quality Marino wool socks by Darn Tough are the best I've found.
Their over the calf Hunting sock is worth the cost.

+2 on the muff, I've been using one with disposable handwarmers in it for quite a while, definitely one of the best things that I ever added to my cold weather hunting gear.

I'm kinda like Norman... I use lightweight gloves while sitting in a tree stand.
The muff I picked up during the time of "Snow Mageddon" down here a few years back was a real treat in subzero weather.
Pop a couple of handwarmers in there, and as they say in the old reruns of the "Honeymooners" with Jackie Gleason ... "and away we go"!!

On the crossbow side, I trimmed down my Excal inventory and picked up what could be my last one, a Wolverine.

I'm a bit more excited with a traditional recurve that I picked up because the challenge appears to be significant. But I'm dead set on trying my best to bag something with it this fall. I also picked up a Millennium M7 Microlite hang-on to sit in with it. Normally I sit in stands with a shooting rail which provides utility during a shot and a bit more security. Hunting with traditional archery will require something much more open. I've set up in a very thick area and this little light stand is a lot easier to hide than one of the bigger ones.

I just spent 20 minutes invited to KUIU'S recent product releases podcast.

We will see their new Proximity Series handwarmer muff released tomorrow .

The Proximity whitetail clothing jacket and pant released last year is the best functional stand clothing I have ever owned.

The new hand muff is certainly on my buy list for fall.

Gotta love their conversion! The are $99.00 USD or......$157.00 CDN  How does one justify that? Good product or not, I'm not liking that!

^^^Same here Bro, not liking the cost either.

But....I have to confess the KUIU PROXIMITY Whitetail stand hunting jacket and hybrid pant/bib is hands down the best clothing investment to date for me.

Proximity was released last fall at $299 jacket and $259 hybrid pant/bib.

Features, light weight and performance offered me exceptional mid to late season stand comfort every time I used it last season.
Late Oct to early Dec this was my hands down favorite outer layer that I have ever worn since I started deer hunting in 1988.

It's not something I would wear in a downpour ( stay home )
or late Dec in Canada for extended periods but I'm being honest , it's a great KUIU set and worth the cost.

Note: 34 pant inseam is not for everyone , nor is the cost.
Still...lest costly than Sitka with better features

New for me this year is I’m retiring my 21 year-old, 40-lb climber for a new Ambush Evolution Climbing stand that is half the weight:
https://xopoutdoors.com/products/ambush-evolution

Also paired it with a Molle backpack frame and straps to carry it. Twenty pounds lighter is a huge deal when you’re sixty!

^^^ I like the Molle back pack system adapted for treestands.
Had the same for my Summit climber.

I picked up a drop in Ruger Bx Trigger set For my 1022 I have been contemplating getting one for quite a while .
I got to shoot it for the first time today and the first shot was slightly surprising.
It is half the pull weight of the regular trigger and I feel it helped to tighten groups a bit.
The price is reasonable and they are in stock again.
My original safety was much smoother than the placement on the Bx module but overall it was a nice upgrade and a very easy install.

Always thought to myself about upgrading my 1022 trigger if it is worth it.
