Opening day

Post by grouse »

Our Missouri archery opening day is September 15, exactly one month from today. It's time to get the deer stands ready, check the brace height on the bows and fire off a few shots to make sure the zero hasn't changed (it never has). It's also time to use up the remaining venison from last year. Hopefully, there wlll be some fresh deer meat to replace it before long.

I checked the long range forecast for where I hunt on opening day. It calls for a low temperature of 48 and a high of 72. These predictions have proven to be 100% unreliable in the past. My prediction is a low of 65 and a high of 88. I hope Accuweather is right this time.

Good luck to everyone on this years hunts. Let us know what happens, even on bad days. We all enjoy reading hunting stories.

Sept is the time I get prepped for our Oct 01st opener.

It's been a long time since I've killed a mature buck. Maybe this is the year..;)

My wife and I are up in Temagami Ontario for the Aug 15 fall bear opener today.

3 barrel bait sites are set and soaking. The first bear seen gets the shaft.

With the last couple of years being so warm in October, I may not hunt deer until November. But that depends on what I see on the cell cams. I've planted nearly 2 acres of corn near the middle of my property and I have access to 2 one hundred acre corn field so hopefully some corn comes down so I can whack some geese!

If I wore a speedo to hunt the deer would die laughing, I wouldn't have to shoot 'em!!
The leaves would fall off ALL the tree's including the Evergreens!
And the Geese would fly North for the Winter!! :eusa-doh:

It would NOT be a pretty sight! Think I'll just wait until it cools off a wee bit!!
