I really was a beautiful morning in the Carolina Pines, 65 degrees with a nice breeze out of the west... perfect for this ladder stand and the way the deer come in. I had been sitting there about thirty minutes,,, really had just got settled in... I think I just heard a foot step??? Maybe it was just a squirrel...

Nothing better than a bloody arrow in the morning!

Nope... it's a deer... I'm sure it's a doe though, dang it!! Wait a minute... I see some velvet sticking up!! Safety off, drop the Bushnell Banner crosshairs down on the shoulder... Swhack goes the Swhacker... the shot looked perfect. He circled around behind the stand, just out of sight, and I heard him crash. I've had a couple of deer seasons and a few turkey seasons start out this good... but not many! :D

I’m confused: how is it you’re able to deer hunt in North Carolina already?

And we're off! Congrats on drawing blood early. This may be the earliest I've ever seen bone posted to the forum.
