Rut forecast

Post by Carnivorous »

Get out this weekend or next if you can. The chasing will commence with the approaching cold front....
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

I have been out this week for a number of sits but it's been very quiet. Lots of rubs and scrapes but very little movement. Its been a sauna in my blind. A little more comfortable in the tree for sure.

Hoping things will start to move this weekend and next week b4 shotgun season.

Stay safe all~!

Cheers,

My brother and I are heading up on Monday for a visit with dad and then we have our annual bow hunt and the low temps are 23 F and 21F should be perfect the start of the rut and a cold front has my hopes up for a productive hunt.

My brother and I were out this morning. 35*
I had a 8 pt walk in at 7 yds to my doe lure, he never saw me but I let him live due to some bigger bucks running around. I’d shoot him later in the year. I had another small buck come in at 9:57am. My brother had a huge 12 pt at 40yds but never gave him a shot, he was on a mission and headed north away from him. Deer are definitely getting active. These next 2 weeks should be killer!

This morning a 6 pt walked by my brother and he didn’t shoot it. Still waiting for a big boy. I told my brother I’m going to start killing one of these because my trigger finger is getting itchy!😆

Saw a dandy 8-point Monday, but he wouldn't cooperate. Never got closer than about 75 yards. I've yet to have a "shooter buck" on camera this year, but I have seen them walking around on the place. Perhaps I need to move a stand????? :eusa-think:

Rifle season starts real soon (Nov. 4th). That's usually when I start getting good bucks on camera simply because they have left the surrounding farms to escape the crazy gun hunters!!

You know I live across the road from hundreds of acres of woods that you cannot hunt on legally. We see monster teaser bucks all the time. Of course never have the camera ready to get a snap shot though. :wtf: Anyway, I saw two bucks tearing it up Tuesday afternoon. It's happening folks!

We got 3” of snow with ice I bet my stands are frozen along with the lifelines. I’m going to try a 3-6pm hunt tomorrow. I had a nice 8 pt walk by my stand at 11am today.
