Lame year for harvests
Of all the years on the forum this is the lowest number of buck n doe harvested to my memory .
I'm trying to contribute but it's not working.
Feel free to post a simple photo of a bird , groundhog or even a squirrel here or a picture of yourself in stand.
If another stray cat comes by tonight at the industrial park I will share.
Good luck fellow Sportsman!

Joe, not sure how much hunting I’m going to do this year because of the move but I’ll try to get one soon.

Not an Excalibur kill but....
Worked hard for this one. The 1 mile drag through 3ft hi grass was a challenge for my 54 year old body. Lol
One more tag to fill. It's smoke pole season on Monday so that sort of stacks the odds...

A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Working on it...
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Nice shot Jeff...my 58 year old tire a$$ has learned to fill my doe tags only where its "convenient " for me to handle l have passed up a few nice bucks in past years thinking of the drag out of the swamp
before pulling a trigger.
A doe drag out of the industrial park is usually never more than 75 yards lolooo. A much smarter kill.
I remember when l was young l woulda drug a spike buck 4 miles uphill both ways.

My brother and I passed on 2 small bucks but I haven’t been seeing a lot of doe. I’m going out this afternoon and see if I can tag one.

Re: Lame year for harvests
Although I'm retired and have my own place to hunt, but I haven't been out much this year. The corn is still in our field and the woods has been so thick with vegetation visibility has been hard. I just got back from two weeks in Argentina and Brazil to find the woods more open but the corn still standing. I hunted Thursday evening and yesterday (Fri) morning and could have killed small bucks both times. I'm no trophy hunter and would happily kill a small buck but for one reason. We have a 4 points one side rule in the county where I hunt and it is often tough to be sure a smaller buck with a narrow rack is legal. I have passed on so many shots over the years on deer that may well have been legal but I just couldn't take a chance. I don't know where the does are. They didn't show up at all.
I do have a bunch of big scrapes on a trail I take through the woods near the house. On the walk back yesterday I jumped a big (and obviously legal) buck near one of the scrapes. It was almost in the yard of our house and I don't have a stand anywhere near there. I'll try to figure something out.

Congratulations Jeff! What's with the lack of pass through? Did you hit the off side shoulder joint? How far did it go?
Some people just like stepping on rakes
Re: Lame year for harvests
I think that a lot of us are doing what you are doing Joe. You passed on Mr. Palmy, I have passed on quite a few smaller bucks including a 13 yard chip shot at a 6pt. this am. With gun season fast approaching there will be no more passing the buck soon!
