Removing Inserts

Post by ko4nrbs »

Posted over on Crossbow Nation as well. Thanks to Vaxbower for the idea!! may be old news to some but wanted to share anyway.

30 watt soldering iron. About 6 dollars at Walmart. Thread 8-32 with a die. The tips are copper so easy to thread.

Goes pretty fast. A 40-watt soldering iron would probably be better to speed up the process but this one does do it pretty quick.

Keep constant force pulling on the insert as the iron heats up. No need to use more heat than it takes to release the adhesive.

I will get an 8-32 screw the proper length, cut it off and screw it into the soldering iron for removing the broadhead inserts.
