Review - Cold weather base layer

Post by Normous »

Last Jan. At the ATA show I put my hands on the SKRE Kaibab 300 Marino top and bottom and thought to.myself this base layet garment is the heaviest Marino wool by weight I have ever felt or used.

SKRE runs regular off season sales events and I subscribed watching for the KAIBAB 300 at a reasonable cost and pulled the trigger at 35% off.

My wife and I have been putting the top and bottom 300 through its paces during our Ontario late season and report an excellent Heavyweight garment at a reasonable cost when on sale.

Both of us agree the the 300 weight Kaibab is the warmest Marino we have used to date and we have owned a few over the last many years late season deer hunting.

The long John bottom weighs in at 18 oz with full leg zippers and velcro waist synches. You can put them on and take off without removing your boots.

I have seen some cheaper Marino bottoms that were see through almost like pantyhose, not these!

Quality YKK zippers are used. I plan to buy additional #3 YKK zipper slides to function in a two way fashion, mainly to walk in dump heat with an outer layer pants featuring 2 way zippers.

Most performance Marino usually weighs half the weight of the Skre Kaibab at the same cost and without full leg zippers. The extra 300 weight is certainly welcome at this time of year.

Watch for regular sales!
