Finally figured out

Post by ko4nrbs »

It took me all season but I finally figured out the swamp deer’s patterns and travel ways.

Before daylight they leave the crop fields and head for the wood lots. Most of the bedding areas are on the creek bottoms. The thickets in there are great hiding areas.

Luckily the wood lot I chose to hunt is a funnel between the crop fields, creek and canal. It’s also where most of the scrapes are.

Next year I will be much better prepared to hunt them.

It's not the kill but the thrill of the chase... :)
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

This is so true!!
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "Wow, What a Ride!
