Post by forrest-hunter »

Anyone figure out how to put a hand strap on the original C2 crank?

I've never tried. The crank handle is sufficiently long that the average person shouldn't get overwhelmed when operating the crank. Anyway, the antireverse pawl positively locks the system. The only real risk would be while uncocking, and with the device mounted on the stock, foot in the stirrup, and with the long handle, there's enough leverage to have good control.

The only other time would be cocking the bow silently, by depressing the pawl so that it didn't click while the bowstring was being pulled back into the cocked position. There again, done carefully, the risk is minimal.

Could probably use a Charger fail-safe strap if you were to replace the knob on the C2 to be compatible with a knob that is shaped like the Charger's knob.

But the handle doesn't quick detach on the C2 so you'd have the strap permanently attached to the handle as well.

I recall reading here about someone making a longer handle. Better leverage might make control easier.

If it’s the decocking function that is your concern, why not just carry an old arrow with you, and fire it into a target or the ground when you are done shooting?

Might be possible to build an adapter to go on a C2 that would let you use the newer crank handle. Would need to get ahold of one of the newer cranks and a handle to do some measuring to see how hard it would be to build.
