My first Turkey with the RevX

Post by Boo »

I've been seeing turkeys mid afternoon on the cams so with that pattern, I went to my property at 2pm. At 4:40 10 Jakes showed up and a tom was with them. The Jakes came over and pecked at my decoys and the Tom stayed in the clover. After what seem like an eternity, they started to walk off including the Tom. I got on them with some continuous soft purring. One Jake turned and started to come back at 80 yards. The rest of them followed suit and came back to my decoys but the Tom stayed for a bit and then came in as well. He started to peck at the Jakes not giving me my prefered shot, the wing butt. So I ranged him and he was at 40 yards pointing my way and slightly towards me. I took the shot and heard a nice thump and down he went. I used a Swat Crossbow Magnum but I guess I could have used a field point with the accuracy that Excaliburs give! The broadhead gave him a good chop in the neck bones.

Congratulations! You have more patience than I do. I would have shot the first jake that walked into range.
