learned something today
My new chronograph arrived today and you know the first thing across it was a bolt out of my carved limb exocet......20" 2117 with a 130 grain wasp broadhead and 5" feathers went 269.......a 20" 2117 with a 130 grain wasp and 5" vanes went 259..........
I figured the vanes would be faster????

Chris,
With carved tips you are doing very well at those speeds with that setup.
I would have expected the results gonhuntin' posted. My son shoots 165# Magtip Exocet, FFF string, 2216 (same as 2117) and 100 grain tips. He's getting about the same speed you are.
The differences could be attributed to, IMO:
A.) strings - standard dacron or flemish dacron
B.) individual differences in limbs
C.) accuracy of chronographs

Exocet FPS
My friend just picked up a new Exocet today and taking my suggestion, bought the Gold Tip carbon shafts with plastic vanes that Excalibur supplies in their standard accessory package. With a 100 gr. target point, he chronied 301fps. I shoot exactly the same arrows/points in my new Exomag and chronied 320fps. Hope this helps.
