Wanted: Excal 308 short or sapphire

Post by G2knee »

These seem pretty hard to find, but I've been wanting one for a while now. Please let me know if anyone knows where to find one or is willing to sell!

Thank you

I'm 5'6". I could use a full-size model, but I have a couple reasons for wanting the shorty. I still hunt, and compactness is key. Also, I don't find a need for a crossbow with any sizeable length-of-pull. I want something that butts up against my shoulder for stability but otherwise tucks in nice and close. I am thinking of modifying what I have now, but I know I'd make a mess of it!

308 seems the perfect ticket, but I'm open to suggestions.

I think your on the right path I had a 308 for a short period. I'm 5'8 and I found it a tad short, but it was sure nice to hold. For me it was more the shape I didn't like.
I was going to suggest, if colour matters, get the basic MOBU model because the regular micro stock would match and fit right on if you found you needed the extra length or even bounce between the two.

As far as ease of use, that 308 could be cocked in bare feet, man it was a slick unit

I built my dad a custom 340 micro with a regular Micro stock.... But every time he shouldered my 308 Short he said he wanted the shorter LOP.

So 8 traded his standard micro stock for a Matrix Sapphire stock with another forum member. Sapphire/Cub/308 Short stocks are all identical, excel for the 308 Short version has a little skeletonizing done to it.

Shorter LOP and must use a forward swept trigger

My 308 Short came with standard trigger and trigger blade.

Kept standard triggers in the ones I put the Sapphire stocks on too. The trigger does sit further back into the opening than it would with a standard micro stock, but I like it cause it minimizes LOP. Looks like there would be enough room to put a forward swept blade on though and gain some LOP, if a guy wanted to.
