6 years gone by

Post by xcaliber » Fri Jul 06, 2018 9:22 pm

My neighbor's kid returned from the Coast Guard after 6 years. He left right after High School at 18, just a boy really. Came home at 24 a grown man. I can't even explain the changes in him, but truly admire what the experiences have molded him into. He is the step brother of my apprentice, and has signed on to a local job as a controls electrician. He will be hunting with us this fall, and who knows how many more.

Damn glad he's home, and so proud of his service!

I'm glad he's home safely and joining in the fall hunt. A big 'thank you for your service young man.' :D

Makes you wonder what it would be like if the USA had mandatory service for all like Israel.

I left home at 17 and joined the Coast Guard. Best thing I ever did.
