Harvested Oct. 3rd at 7:30 am shortly after a heavy thunderstorm had made it's way through the area. I was seriously questionning if it was wise to be in a tree stand at that time but glad I stayed put. Deer was taken at a distance of 35 yards. The Exomag equipped with varizone scope launched a GT carbon bolt tipped with a 100 grain Wasp broadhead. The deer only went about 30 yards before expiring from a hit in the lung area. Massive internal bleeding was noted when gutting.

No pics as I forgot my camera and it was 60+ degrees and rushed the deer to the butcher!!

7 Point Buck
30 yeard Shot
Quartering away
Took out 1 lung
100 yards after the shot
Excalibur Exocet 200
GT 2`s
Wasp Boss SST 100`s
Open Sights

First one and I am hooked!!

The mule kick was wild, I have never seen that before.
I was still hunting and the buck was in his beadroom and was snorting and weezing at me. Couldn`t see him, so I started to lightly buck grunt and the 3rd time he couldn`t stand it and appeared about 30 yards away and thankfully looked the other way. Too late!! Jack.

I like that name of Night Train, it beats the heck out of something like Mad Dog 20/20. I'm sure you have killed a buck with a great sense of taste. You sure don't need to use the size matters with any of the guys on this forum (At least I don't think you do).

After yesterdays loss, and feeling a little dejected I headed out this morning to try it again.

I went to a different spot. At first light I rattled. Shortly after a doe with a fawn came towards me. I was ready, and knew when she got to a certain clump of grass she would be 20 yards. Just as I was about to stop her she crossed my trail I laid on the way in and jumped back. She never offered me another shot. My confidence was still low though after yesterdays misjudgement in range.

I selected a different spot in the evening. Sat in my treestand. Didn't make a peep. Right at sunset I heard some deer coming towards me. It was a doe with a young one. She started heading right down my shooting lane. She just passed my 20 yard blaze when she offered me a quartering towards shot. I know not the highest percentage shot but I could visualize the arrow going through and taking out the necessary organs to put her down.

I let the arrow fly. It found its mark. The doe bounded away, and then crashed in a "puddle". I could hear her try to get up in the puddle, then silence. I waited 30 seconds , and made my way to her location. I found bubbley blood where I hit her. I walked to where I heard her go down. She was resting in peace. She travelled perhaps 15 yards.

It appears I took out some lung, liver, some gut, and my guess is the aorta or vena cava.

She's a big girl. Probably 175lbs on the hoof.

Got these two babies with my Exomax #225, 100 grain WASPs and Gold Tip II's. One was slightly quartering toward me and the other was quartering away from me. Both dropped within 15 yards.

I'm not sure why the image is small . . .the picture is certainly in a larger format in photobucket . . .any suggestions?

I'm now saving my rifle for when I'm a "disabled hunter".
