Shot broadheads ........... WOW !!!

Post by Slink »

Well its still six months untill bow season, but I am getting ready to buy my wife some more bolts for her Phoenix. I wanted to see how the bow shot the Gold Tips with broadheads before buying more.

I set up the bolts just as I do for my compound. I lined the blades up with the fletching and I indicated the ferrule for runout. I only set up two bolts , one broadhead ended up with .002" runout and the other had .003".

We tested accuracy at 40 yards. Maybe not too wise to start at 40, but if they won't shoot at 40, we would use something else anyhow. Well, as it turned out, there was no need for concern. My wife shooting off of a rest at 40 yards put both Wasp tiped bolts in the X-ring. (one at a time). We've already learned our leason about shooting the Phoenix at the same dot.

I continue to be amazed with the Excalibur Phoenix. I've also been satisfied with the products they include with their Right Stuff package. All items have performed very well.

Hats off to Excalibur for their excellent products!!

Glad to see your like the performance of the WASP's. I only shoot WASP Broadheads, and for some time now. Somtimes it takes a little more to fine tune the Vane, Head, Shaft, FOC to get the desired performance, but I have to say the WASP Heads are my favorite. But only the Boss or Hammer SST. My set up is Gold Tipped 11's and 4 in. Vanes, 7 deg. offset, Front Brass inserts, Aluminum rear Nocks, 100 gr. Boss. From Exmag, and Exmax. 8)

PS: I am also now using Bolt Wraps for vision.

Micro 315 - 410 gr. Zombies/Lumenoks
Micro 355. - Punisher-Zombies/Lumenoks
