I went out in the rain, hail, snow and wind. Lovely morning

Heard some gobbles and some hens. At 8 am saw two hunters (tresspassers) but by the time I noticed them they were too far away for me to contact them. I had to confirm with the farmers that no one new was given permission to hunt.

Oh well, when we talked to the farmer we got a new place that they have been seeing turkeys. Come on Saturday...

Got a jake this am.Two came in together,real quite.However they were gobbling while I was setting up my decoys.THis is my first bird.What makes it special is I used my late fathers shotgun which is a 90yr. old stevens humpback.Next one will be a vixen kill I hope.Good luck to everyone out there.

well here is my story,& i am sticking to it. went to elk city ks. with 2 bro inlaws,, jim , marion & me it was 91 degrees, hot , jim set up close to a feeder 2 toms finally came in after lots of calling , jim shot both, then went to pick them up a rattler almost got him. 2 rattlers laying close to the feeder,,,, . jim got 2 turkeys , 2 rattlers . i got a nice tom next day, marion got 0. my son went out ,back home called in 2 big toms killed 1 , he weighed 24 lbs

Opening day I saw only 1 hen, no gobbling at all. This morning was also very quiet but did here 1 distant gobble. Had 2 jakes come in though and looked over the decoys. Past on them as they were very small. As I think about it more and more, I am starting to regret passing on them. Should have took one.

yeah what brutal weather, at least there was no snow on the ground this year. I was hunting with a buddy and if he had said lets get out of here i probably would of led the way, but did not. You have to tough it out, it pays off. At 7:45 i finally heard a gobble and a tom came running over with 2 hens in tow to our decoys (3 hens and a jake). I shot him at 25-26 yards away, that warmed me up!! He ended up being a 23.9 pounder with 3/4" spurs and a 9 1/8" beard.

Now for what i really want to do, fill my second tag using my exocet 200

Killed a nice tom Tuesday morning at 7:00am. Called him in and he struted for about a minute at 60 yards. I gave him a couple of soft purrs and he came up to about 30 yards and just put on a strutting show you wouldn't believe. Shot him with a dose of #4's. Weighted 18.25 pounds, had a 7" beard and 7/8" spurs. Probably a 2 year old bird. Going back out Friday.

Lots of gobbling Tuesday morning off the roost and not so much on the ground.
Called in 4 jakes and had them 20 yards away but since I shot a jake on opening morning I'm waiting for the big one.

I got my first Turkey this year!
He had a 4 inch beard. A lot of people make fun of me and my little jake. I think their just jealous!!
Who said Turkey hunting is killing long beards? But i would like to shoot at least a 10 incher!!
