Spammers/ new tricks

Post by Farmer »

The creeps do not quit, now thay are burying their junk in the middle of real posts :!:    Went to post about the Therma Cell and found one buried there with the person logging on as a guest. There just seems to be no end to the creeps.

Fun Eh. All new accounts should have to be approved before they can post.

Hi Guys,

I've been on holidays for two weeks and just got back. I have been working on some ways to get rid of these parasites that continue to plague our forum. I have been toying with the idea of confirming members before they can post. The only problem with that is if I'm away they will not be able to become active members until I approve it but that may not be a problem. I have found ways to block certain locations that most of these guys come from and I also can cull out multiple users with some new software. My fight to eradicate these scum from the face of the earth continues....

All I did just a few minutes ago is open this site from a desktop icon, and Norton blocked a Trojan virus.
I agree with Bob Stout that these guys need to get a life!!

Peter,
I vote for approval before you can post. You will never get rid of all the spammers, but even a reduction would be a relief!
As for eliminating the "parasites" - good thought, but they don't have a life so they can't be euthanized!

Well, I've now set up our forum that you can not become a member without getting approval. What happens now is when somebody signs on to become a member I get a noitce of this new member and can check him out first before they get approval. I got 2 today and both were spammers so I zapped them. Since you can not post without beng a approved member it will get a little tougher for these scum bags to post this crap. The war on parasites continues......

Thanks Peter,

I know it sounds a little harsh but I'm sure this will cut down on 90% of the spamcrap.
