Excel String problem

Post by Ronster »

I just tried to mount an Excel String (36" #1994) on my Pheonix. The bow stringer would not pull the limbs back far enough to get the new string over the limb tips. I have a new string that came with my Pheonix, and it is about 1" longer than the Excel string. Is this right? Not sure what to do here.

try shortening the rope on your stringer. keep taking off untill you get enough out of it to put on the new string.

Thanks for the info. The shorter string won't hurt my limbs will it? Will the Excel string stretch like the standard string?

Are the Excel and the Fast Flight the same string? I just got worried when I noticed 1" difference on two different strings for the same crossbow.

excel is made of different material

and yes you have to adjust the stringer. The setting it comes at factory doesnt get it close. And no it wont hurt the limbs. It doesnt pull them back no where near what full draw with the excel or FFF string does :D

Guys, I hate to beat this thing to death but....., I just got my Excel string on after adjusting my stringing aid. I now notice that the string is 2" behind the front of the rail. Or about 1/2" behind the second mark that's machined into the rail. My original factory string was in between these two marks. This just doesn't seem right.

Mine was too until I shot it a few times and then it settled down a little.

I checked the string this morning. It stretched 3/8" overnight. I'll try out my new alum 2216 bolts today and see how it goes.

same here.. I actaully didnt like using my excel because of that. Then I found out later it stretches. also, its about 15fps slower than the FFF.

FYI, I shot a few arrows today. POI impact basically the same as my old string with the Gold Tips. Now have the Excel string and 2216 aluminum. Very pleased with the results. First three arrows in the kill zone @ 20 yds - 3" group. Guess I got all excited over nothing. Good hunting everyone.
