Those two were shot on a farm that the owner (85+ years old) just let them hunt.
HOWEVER - When the word got out that they took two such bucks the owner's cousin who farms the ground said that he wants the hunting rights for him and his buddy (an outfitter). Since he farms the ground and blood is much thicker than water my son and his buddy are now out.
Hopefully the oldman will chnage his mind by next year, but doubtful.
It was a handshake deal and no money exchanged hands.
"Outfitting" is taking over in illinois. It will some day soon be a "if you can't pay, you don't hunt".
My son and his buddy have had a banner year. Here are a couple of bucks they took in archery season.
In archery season, my son and his buddy doubled up only they were many miles apart.
They both shot excellent bucks 5 minutes apart. My son was in Illinois and his buddy was in Indiana.
My son’s buck’s width was 19+..
That is what cost him his life. My son really looked him over before shooting and the width sold him on taking the shot.
His buddy is Dean Stallion owner of American Taxidermy in Boonville Indiana. Excellent ten pointer with great mass.
