I use a battery op. CO detector in my trailer because I have a propane stove/oven as well as a furnace. After I open the trailer up on the weekends it's the first thing I turn on.

Crappy Tire has them for about $20-25.

Well, I guess this is one advantage of living in the sunny South!

Not much need for a blind heater in this part of Dixie (most of the time), but what about a blind air conditioner for the early season?

Tee-shirt weather here today.

:D While we are on the subject of Gnd Blinds, what fold up chair do you find to be the most light weight and comfortable. I got one of them Bass-Pro for 5 bucks but after a while my lower back hurts so bad I have to get out and stretch. Thanks.

curmudgeon.

I have 2 discs gone in my lowere back by the belt line.

I bought a similar chair to this one at walmart for about $9.00CAN about 3 years ago. Folds up, comes with a bag and doesn't squeak. Easy to strap onto the top of my daypack.

I find that it forms to the shape of my spine and I never get a sore back sitting. Actually supports my back really well.

Because there are no arms on it I find it easier to turn/spin in the seat if I have to. It may be too comfortable because I tend to nod off.

Just Google Mr.heater.com. These heaters really kick. I used one in a ice fishing house in 35 below, high winds on a lake one night and melted all the ice off the floor stripped down to skivies and cooked fish on it. And they are cheap. Great pick A.W !

The Catalytic Heater is usually extreemly quiet. I also have an older version that is very loud, I would not use it in a blind, but the Catalytic Heater I use. I believe that the larger versions are a little more loud.

Hawk,
The only one I've found that is really quiet is the SportCat. It doesn't put out a lot of heat, but it's quiet and odorless.

We don't need heaters much here in Arkansas either, but I used to go ice fishing w/ a pal in Illinois and he used a Coleman lantern w/ a certain size tin can that fits right over it. We used to cook/make coffee on it. He took an old timey beer can opener to the can around the edge where it fastens to the bottom.

Hawk,
I have both - the black cat and the sport cat, and the black cat does make a hissssssss you can hear. Not bad, but an audible hiss. The sport cat I have to turn on high and put my ear (with the heater unlit! ) right against the screen to hear any noise. The black cat puts out twice the heat, though.

Heaters in a ground blind

Wabi, How loud is blackcat when turned down low? quiet enough for bowhunting? Which one would you recommend ? I use a home made wooden blind and need to hear what is going on around me.I know a pop-up would let me hear better but this blind is permanent. Hawk
