There's a sporting goods store 30 miles from here that has Tyler's size in stock. I'm going to pick up a pair tomorrow. He may never need them again but that's a chance that I'm not willing to take. Besides, I kinda like the kid  .
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Ray,

Give Tyler a big CONGRATS. I've been out hunting the past few days and just got back. I started at the top of the forum and haven't read the post about the first deer yet.

:D Congrats Tyler on another deer ,as for the snake it would definitely be in danger with me .It would be the three S`s with me on that.Shoot,Shovel,Shutup.Normally I`m not into breaking the law but there is exceptions when something can cause me harm.

a landscaper in oriental n.c.was bitten in the past week by a rattlesnake
and is reportedly not doing very well by a co-worker that knew him, so be careful out there.

[quote="raydaughety"]Wabi, would you have been ticketed even though the hunter was at immediate risk?

Depends on the officer and his attitude. Probably beat it in court if you could present a reasonable argument that a person was in danger, but it would still cost you time & money to go to court. A boy scout leader was almost arrested a couple years ago when he killed one that he felt was a threat to the scouts with him. The finally let him go, but they had him sweating. I can see ticketing someone for deliberately killing one if they could avoid it, but you can't always avoid them, and it can be a split-second decision on whether to shoot or move away. If you're too close any movement could trigger a strike!
In that case I'd probably use the 3-S method.

Congrats on the deer! And on the boots I've been wearing snake boots for the last few years and love them. I first had the Redhead laceups and they worked real good for me but taking them off was a bit of a pain. Then they came out with the zip ups and I got those next. Haven't had a bite yet and its rare that I see a poisonous snake but run into them every now and then. But another place where the boots help me out is busting through the briars in all of my groundpounding.
