bolt shafts...what gives???

I have been shooting 21-17 and 22-16 shafts for my exomag for years and when i went to bass pro the other day all they could sell me was 22-19 shafts?? he informed me thats all they sell now is this correct? Now i have to toss my other shafts for target and start shooting and start over with the 22-19. I hate changing the game plan before hunting season. also i have slick tricks now and want to buy more but i cant remember what weight they are. does it say on the blades anywhere? Also what weight should i go with for the exomag 100gr. perhaps?? thanks!

You can buy 2216's almost anywhere. Maybe the guy was being a prick?

If you were at the Toronto Bass Pro, whoever you talked to had no clue. We stock the Firebolts, 2219 and 2216 and have plenty of each available.

I made about 60 Easton 2216 Legacy bolts. And it is better then 2219 unless you hunt for Gryzzly, Kodiack bear or Bison.

I've only had one dealing with the archery dept. at Bass Pro. I wanted flip up scope caps for mine and my wife's Varizones. I asked the guy at the counter if he knew what size I would need and he rhymed off the size like he knew what he was talking about. I went over to the scope area and bought two sets. Of course when I got home they didn't fit. It's hardly worth the drive back for me to return them so I guess I'm stuck with them. That's what I get for not shopping at the Bow Shop!

If you want the right info from guys who know what they are talking about and will gladly spend the little extra time with you so that you get everything right. WOLFSDEN!!! They are the archery boys!! Little more expensive sometimes but worth it!!! BP great to visit but can be frustrating at times especially if you need help!

Hint!! When you do need help. Try to get the clerks that look like they are over 35!!!! You were a teenager once and so was I. Now try to remember how helpful you were at times to customers after partying all night every night and going into work with no sleep and a hangover. No excuse I know. But, that's life!! Always find the older more experienced guys that work there full-time. And never go in at night or on weekends if you need help! That is when the part-timers work!

I actually saw a red dot mounted BACKWARDS by some of the same kind of help. It's gotten to the point I don't ask for help, if I don't know I ask here.
Slicks don't have weight etched on them. You could try balancing one, against a field point of know weight, on a small flat stick. Fortunately I reload, so my powder scale come in handy for weighing all sorts of bow stuff.

Yeah, ive been F$^%ed there allready twice...now the third time hurts that much more...i hate to travel there from sudbury to return 6 bolts so im stuck i guess...you can never get any help there and when you do the guy has no clue....10-4 on the wolfs den...i usually get there every fall to 3-d shoot...i love that place!!thanks,

just wanted to revisit this topc....btw....THANKS to stash for all his help on this issue!! I went to the local shop here today and THEY told me the exact same thing BP told me...that excalibur do not sell the 22-16 anymore because they are phasing them out and selling the carbon instead...so long story short we weighed the firebolts and the charger carbon shafts and found the charger are almost the exact same weight as the 22-16's ( around 320gr.) so i purchased half a dozen of them and i guess ill be shooting the carbon now..at 8 bucks a piece it hurts a bit but ohh well i suppose..

This is why I always buy a dozen or two arrows when I find the one that works best,then Iam set for along time.The only thing I change around are BH's.

found this old post...makes sense now, this post is from way back!

Sabre, I still have some 2117s around from my first Wolverine that I use for target practice. 2117 bolts were discontinued and 2216s replaced them, they are about the same weight and were recommended for Emags and Exocets at one time. There is nothing wrong with using them if you have them. They are getting harder to find, some shops have some old stock.
