It was a very tough decision. There are some realy nice pics to choose from. I would prefer to think about it some more but I am afraid I may wait too long for my vote to count. So here it goes:

Sax- I realy like the pic of your nine point and family. I would give my
vote to you if you had tucked his tounge back in. Sorry.

Without Sax, I have narrowed the field down to jeeptag, fletch, partikle, fishn-hunter, bucktail, and sunset. They are all great pics but I am going to have to go with Sunset. I like his enthusiasm, and that he honored his trophy with a last meal.
A bad day in the woods is better than a good day anywhere else.

I almost voted for your picture with your dad and the young lad as well Sax, it was a tough decision. You'll have the blood and tounge thing down for the big buck you take this fall. We took some nice bucks 3 years ago but we took pictures after we did the gutting and there is blood everywhere.

We made sure to take the pictures before the gutting this year and put the toungs back in and now we have some nice pictures from various hunts. They look great as my computer wallpaper and in the photo album.

Congrats to everyone who filled a tag last fall regardless of how big your buck was or how nice your picture turned out.

I am finally going to place my vote, it took me this long to pick one over several others and they are close. The 3 I could decide between were Partikle, Schnarrfuss, and Sunset's neighbour.
Please take no offence for my comments they are just my opinion....Partickle if your bow had been somewhere in the photo would have been a plus.....Schnarrfuss would have liked to see the deer's head in the foreground rather than the background to place focus on the head (antlers for the buck)......Sunset's neighbour would have liked to seen the whole body of deer in the photo. The size of the deer had no bearing on the winner, it is presentation only.
There can only be 1 winner so I choose......schnarrfuss.

I would like to take a moment to thank those who have voted for and gave mention to my photo. It is an honour as a newcomer to recieve such great feedback given all the great photo's that have been posted. It is very encouraging and great incentive to take the time to take a photo to be proud of. Thanx Don for opening my eyes, my photo's will get much more thought and attention from now on. I can't wait to wack another one to see what I can do to capture the viewer.

I'd like to propose that we finish this off in a couple of weeks. By that time I'll have some base ball hats in and will fire one off with each prize. So if anyone is ok with that the date will be when I get the hats in. If anyone wants anything different please post it.

I have wrestled with this decision for a week now and the time has come to cast my vote.

I am an antler addict. That immediately draws me to the Fishn-Hunter & Partikle pictures. But this is a picture contest, not an antler contest.

I am very fond of the three generations in sax's photo. I wish that scenario was playing out all across our continent but I know it isn't as the heritage is being lost. This is a rare glance of Florida deer hunting that many of you never get to experience. I have hunted whitetail bucks just about everywhere and the Florida hunts rank in my top five. It is as much a social event as it is a hunt. Now lots of places have very social hunts I know, but most others contain the party to the campfire or lodge before and after the hunt. In Florida, that party goes with you into the field, it is just a riot. Dogs howling, people shouting and laughing, outrageous double decker vehicles, its a Mardi Gras version of a deer drive. But as much as I like what sax and his family convey, I cannot give my vote to this picture either.

One picture just kept bringing me back. One picture not only brought the visuals so well represented like the others mentioned above, but it brought an emotion along with it as well. It brought joy into the equation. The sunset photo conveys a sense of pure joy and I don't care how a hard a man you might be, you cannot help but smile as you look at this hunter with his trophy. You can't fake that. And seldom if ever do you have the chance to photograph an emotion so strongly exhibited.

To me, the sunset picture is a classic. It reaffirms to me why we all love this sport so very much.

You know the joke about the blonde, burnette and the redhead in the finals of the beauty contest? Who won????????????????? . . . well, the one with the biggest rack, of course.

Similar things go on in deer photo contests too, I guess.

I second this. It is a honour to just getting some recognition on the forum by this awesome family here. I thank Boo for starting this and being so generous and kind. Boo is awesome.

This is an excellent website and has some very informative topics. I've looked at all the pics and had a hard time deciding. In the end I'd have to go with the sunset picture...enthusiasm, well set up, tastefully depicted. Looking forward to spending more time on your forum.
