sumner4991 now your talking I like the sales tax idea Sounds more like an Independent now. I think you had better look back in the records on who started the Homes for every one thing i really believe that was this administration if they did not start it they pushed it. I know Bushs Secretary of Houseing or what ever you call them has been on the carpet for a year or more!!! But i can live with all of your explanations except lets not point the finger at Clinton he has been out of office for allmost 8 Years and for the first 6 years of the Bush administration he had all the Partisan Party votes If they did not like the Mortgage stuff the old administration had they could have CHANGED it Correct
Clinton has been Gone for 8 YEARS Enough Blame on Him

I first started doing 125% LTV loans in April of 2000(**corrected, I stopped doing them in 2000, see note in next post). As far as I'm concerned that was the beginning of the end for the mortgage industry. Sub-prime lending kept getting riskier and riskier. Sure it started while Clinton was in office. Is he to blame . . .I seriously doubt it. It ended while Bush was in office . . .is he to blame, no. However, there were a couple of crooks involved . . .I don't have their names, but, they are to blame. Everyone wants to put blame on the President everytime something goes wrong with an American Corporation . . .was the President running Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae?? NO!
Obama is proposing 80 million dollars worth revenues raised from taxing the wealthy and corporations . . .however he proposes over $1 trillion worth of spending. Where is the other difference coming from??

the stock market has recovered a bit due to the bailout announcement... the severe drop in value of FNM & FRE put major doubts around the world on the U.S economy, without this bailout the U.S would have lost any credibility in the world market..... I don't like that the GOV had to do it but the alternative was even worse.... just think what would have happened without the bailout if FNM & FRE filed chapter 11 ( or chapter 7 ) and over 50% of all US mortgages were called by the banks.
Ummm how about ending a war that costs us $300,000,000 a DAY? How about taxes on the new "green" businesses that will be created in America instead of China? How about ending tax incentives to big oil for more of the same ripoff's of the American people? How about tariffs on foreign imports?Obama is proposing 80 million dollars worth revenues raised from taxing the wealthy and corporations . . .however is proposes over $1 trillion worth of spending. Do we really need McSame?

DrDan . . .most of the "cost of war" is still there, we still run military exercises, still pay troops, still build weapons, still shoot weapons, still maintain machinery . . .that's a bogus number. Besides, if it isn't that cause, it's some other . . .we'll probably go clean up and rebuild Cuba after Ike is done.
I need to correct myself on the 125% loans, we stopped doing them in April 2000. There were a few companies still offering them after that date, but, we stopped. I was taking First Plus Financial(remember the Dan Marino commercials?) turndowns and selling to Cityscape Mortgage. Here is a link to First Plus' troubles . . . http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.h ... A96F958260
I can't believe you didn't get me on that one. I was trying to help my daughter with her homework and do this from memory.
By the way . . .your ending the war idea is a good one. Let's WIN it and come home. Troops are coming home. Obama still refuses to believe he was wrong on the surge. Nobody could foresee that conclusion . . .well nobody except the guys that voted FOR the surge.
Taxing businesses . . .that's just another way to increase the cost of goods sold. We, the consumer, will pay any tax that hits a business.
What we need to do is figure out a way to tax the 10 million illegal immigrants. They use our police, fire dept, parks, . . .pay no taxes.

Ok sumner since I'm caught up on hunting issues so I'll continue...
Shall we blow it wide open and start talking about Pentecostle Fundamentalism? That should keep us busy until deer season. Is the world only 7000 years old? Is abortion not an option even in cases of rape and incest? How about when the mothers life is at stake? It's still killing as I see it. Do we really want the government censoring the books in our libraries? I don't want a Pentecostal fanatic a heartbeat away from the big switch do you? Gheesh it was god's will to anialate a civilization...
Enough

What are we to win? What is your definition of winning? Do we convert age old Muslims to democracy? Make them all Christians? Colonize them? Take their oil? 250,000 Iraqi civilians are dead because we let our reality be distorted by the most effective propaganda machine in fifty years, the corporate American press. I really wonder what there is there to win... Do you really think this so called surge accomplished anything or is there just a lull as the extremists get ready for round two? I really can't understand the philosophy that makes us think the rest of the world has to be just like us. I say "Live and let live"! If they screw with us nuke em, but otherwise let them live their lives like we enjoy ours...By the way . . .your ending the war idea is a good one. Let's WIN it and come home. Troops are coming home. Obama still refuses to believe he was wrong on the surge. Nobody could foresee that conclusion . . .well nobody except the guys that voted FOR the surge.
Import tariffs could make it economical to once again produce in the good old US of A. Raise the price of our iron ore - the Chinese don't have any natural resources - without us they are back to the dynasty! Yes it would cost us more for goods produced here but we would have jobs and money to make our purchases with. Of course you and I both know that there is no standard for money anymore. It is worth what the Fed's say it's worth. So we owe China trillions and trillions of dollars. We borrow whith value of dollar high and then devalue it and pay back less. Isn't that what's happening right now?Taxing businesses . . .that's just another way to increase the cost of goods sold. We, the consumer, will pay any tax that hits a business.
I agree that would be a good idea and I also think we need to take a good look at taxing churches. Church is a big business that makes tons of money - OMG here it comes... Separation of church and state. Hmmm how about political endorsement or condemnation by church officials - Is that still keeping church and state separate? What we need to do is figure out a way to tax the 10 million illegal immigrants. They use our police, fire dept, parks, . . .pay no taxes.

Our V.P. has admitted to nothing. Just don't go hunting with him.
Like I said, crooks in the right places cost us a ton of money. You could probably go into every international corporation and find some form of bribery taking place . . .can find it in most corporations in the form of dinners, golfing, and vacation packages. Just not to the tune of $10 million.
DrDan . . .I would think winning is when we have taken their ability to train and fund guys to come over here and kill us. Personally, I would drop the biggest chemical bomb we have. Clean house totally, keep their oil, their buildings, and have no prisoners. No loss of American lives. I would then send all our homeless over there and give them housing. Far cheaper than a day of war based on your numbers and it benefits the homeless. Fortunately/unfortunately, it's not up to me. If I'm ever elected President . . .
OK . . .this has been a fun thread . . .I'm ready to focus on deer season . . .starts Saturday!!! Yes . . .this Saturday!!!

M&M . . .the threads are clearly marked . . .just stay off the subjects you don't have an interest in seeing.
None of us are trying to offend anyone. Everyone that participated in the political threads had a good time and I didn't see anyone getting their feelings hurt. Good points were exchanged and we are still hunters and Excalibur lovers.

Shall we all just stick our heads in the sand and ignore the fact that our country is going belly up or shall we seek solutions and try to fix it? Friendly chat on any forum is part of understanding our problems.
