My wife has a camp in Achray on Grand Lake and I have my own camp at Stonecliffe below Mattawa. Zone 48 so no moose or deer tags.

Cures for the Shakes
I do quite a bit of bear and deer hunting and here's my trick. I learn the anatomy of the chest cavity and know exactly where the heart and major arteries are located. I focus on that mental image of the anatomy and don't even see the whole animal. My focus is the kill zone. If the shot presents itself I squeeze the trigger. If it doesn't I just wait and let it go. Yes Boo bear do get you riled a little as I always have to hunt on the ground. I use a 375 H&H so I have never had a wounded bear to contend with but I do also carry my 41 Mag in a shoulder holster just in case. I figure at 5 feet I can be pretty dang deadly with the 41 Mag but always save one round for self if things get out of control.
It's all a matter of focus! Focus, Focus, Focus on that beating heart! If you concentrate enough you can dang near see it beating.

Indeed, Mike, discretion is the better part of valor when it comes to Ursus Americanus ... or any of our other Ursine friends.Mike P wrote:I am I am I amGrizzly Adam wrote:Oh, come on! Who's afraid of bears?![]()
I greatly envy those of you who can stroll through the woods without worrying about bumping into something that can very easily hurt you.
Must be nice.

Grizz
The only time I find bears a concern is when I camping in Provincial Parks. They haven't been hunted in decades and they have no respect for humans. In areas that are hunted I have little trouble with bears unless you surprize them.
I'm sure it's a different deal if you should wound one though.

P.S. I think I've got the shakes beat. Time will tell but the advise was great.

If you're not part of the solution, you might be part of the problem.
