Hope you have a great trip! There are some real crankers being shot in the province this year.

I'm heading out in the Rocky Mountain House area on Thursday. It's still a bit warm, but that's OK too.

That is a great gift and good luck on your hunt. I myself will be flying up to saskatchewan this saturday to hunt whitetails near Prince Albert the town's name is White Fox. Its been 10 years since I have been up to that province. i guess i have to make do with my swarovski's SLC

Nice snowy, cold place to hunt. The Peace River is a nice region. I have seen a few outdoor shows on the area. I would like to visit there sometime.
For sure you'll keep some fond memories of that hunt. Good to see you back safely and no equipment (ATV's) shot or anything.

The temps were too high. Mostly above zero during the day and maybe 10 below during the eveneing.
I read an article in Peterson's Bowhunter which described Bergman's rule of thermalregualtion in respect to deer. This explains why northern deer are bigger as well as why we see more animals during the day when it is cold. We all know they move to feed to get energy to produce heat and some times it is a matter of comfort. A "warm-blooded animal living in cold climates tend to be larger than animals of the same species living in a warm climate". So not everything is bigger in Texas, LOL! But it does explain why northern deer tend to be bigger. Apparently there is a point where the deer find it more economical energy wise to lay and wait. It is the temperature differential that matters rather than the actual temps. So when the temperatures rise after a cold spell during the rut, deer movement occurs more during the evening hence bucks follow the night moving does.
The Dec Peterson's Bowhunting magazine is a pretty good read. Nothing surprising really in the end. But confirmation of common sense.
