Need some strong cord/rope for my exomax

Post by ch312 »

checked bass pro and the strongest thing they have is 200lb bow fishing line. home depot and canadian tire have nothing either.

i need something that is small diameter but strong enough to cock my exomax so it needs to be at least 300lb test. doesnt really need to be that strong as its only going to have up to 180lbs (im guessing) pulling on it but want to be safe.

any ideas?

Get a rope cocking aid.

If you already have one, and need a replacement rope, contact Excalibur.

If you don't want to do that, the Bass Pro has a Primos rope used for hauling stuff up the treestand, $5, and good enough for use on the rope cocking aid.

where the line/rope crosses around the back of the bow and there is one strand of line there, that point has the full 225 pounds on that one strand.
a briggs and stratten crank cord should handle the load. good luck and have a great 09

If you are looking for a cocking rope, head to TSC and buy a meter of braided lawnmower starting cord. Less than $2.

You can get synethic rope for winches (very expensive) 3/16 rope can handle 4200lb, I would just use lawnmower starting cord.

I would try getting ahold of some parachute cord (550 cord). Most military surplus stores will carry the stuff. It is about 1/8th of an inch in diameter. I replaced the factory rope on the cocking aid and have been using it with my exomag without any problems for the past few years.

A marine store for yacht and boat supplies would have lots of cordage to choose from on spools and sold by the foot.

If needed for the cocking aid, I emailed EXCAL Dude and he sent one in the mail for free.

probably to just prove that you actually payed for one, and not just trying to get a freebie.
