I can answer part of that. I set a mirror up for trail can pictures so I could get strutting turkeys. Well it worked real good. The trouble was, I had to clean the blood off the mirror when I got back to check the camera. I could just imagine what a rutting buck would do with another buck in front of him that matches all of his postures and never backs down. Well I would not want to be behind the reflective material if the buck decided to assert himself.

I do believe that the reflective material is the best camo out there as no matter when you set up, it will match that area, but it could also be dangerous.

According to their web site FAQ

Q: Can game see itself in the mirror panels?

A: No - unless the game gets within 6" of the blind before you shoot.

If you let a buck get within six inches of your blind your a better man than I gunga din.

A little to steep for me, if I were to spend that on a blind, it would be on a Double Bull!

The price on the ghostblind is rather steep but I think that we could make one a lot cheaper. All that would be needed is a ridged light weight blind material and mirrored window tint. The trick of not letting the game see itself and not reflecting in the sun is simply angling the blind at 40 to 45 degrees once it is set up so that all it would reflect was what was in front of it on the ground. I am going to start on mine sometime this week and experiment a little. It would come in handy for turkey season.

No doubt ... and what an easy thing to make! :D

1/4" luan ply would suffice for the rigidity ... it's very light. Sealed on the edges and painted, it's reasonably waterproof. You could easily build a folding blind as seen in the website with it and a little ingenuity.

All the plan you need you can get from looking at the demo on the website.

Cut and prep the ply, apply the film, fashion strap hinges from nylon webbing, add some backpack straps, and off you go. A simple weekend project (or two)! 8)

The one thing I'd want to be sure of is that the film would stick to the ply.

That mirror tint is not cheap that would cost at the least 100 bucks if not more just for the window tint. So thw way i figure by the time you buy all the stuff you need plus your time, you could buy the smaller one.

Perhaps the most amazing ground blind I have ever seen! You could buy a decent rifle for the price of that blind, though....

I really like the idea. And could be done even lighter with 1/8"in plywood.
And still be rigid enough. Don't know how much longer the wife will let me climb tree's, or if she'll let me, so a ground blind may be in the future.
