Y25 Wooden Stock

Post by Chuck Gravel »

Hi, I have been occupied with building a wooden stock for my equinox and i have noticed problems with building my own stock. does anyone know where i can get a Y25 stock or a "custom" one. i have heard the name of a man "mark" who used to build stocks. does anyone know his username, I was looking for some advice on making my own stock better. thanks for any help.

As far as I know Mark Henneger was a member here at one time.(before I joined). I have read that some have tryed to contact him with no luck. You might want to ask some of the current members who are/have built stocks. Desert rat is one name that comes to mind.

I have a Mark Henegar stock that I purchased from another forum member but from what I have heard Mark is not making them any more.

I believe Mark used Actionwood (i.e. resin-impregnated maple or birch) for his stocks.

I made my own stock out of a blank of walnut. If you can get someone with a milling machine to inlet for the crossbow rail (my brother-in-law comes in handy sometimes!) carving the rest is fairly straightforward. Below is a photo of mine. I didn't do a professional job of carving it, but it still looks pretty nice.
