Newbie Question
I just ordered a Exocet 200 online. I havent recieved it yet, but I have a question maybe someone could help me with. If you are hunting for 3 or 4 hours, do you leave your crossbow cocked the whole time and doesnt it wear the string out?

I'm a little new to this as well, but I've seen posts here where x-bows have been left cocked for a few days without dmage. I'm not recommending it, but leaving it cocked in your stand is no problem.
I would NOT sling it over my back cocked. You're just asking for an accident.

You can take the NS online crossbow course.
Just sign up and give it a try.
But, DO NOT pay for a certificate as it is only available for NS hunters.

Camoman,
First welcome.
You can uncock your crossbow with the rope cocking aid. If it didn't come with your crossbow, you will need one. They show you how to do it on the excalibur video that comes wtih the bow, or I think on their web site.
I've never wondered about maximum distance. I think most of the members here would agree that 40 yards is a long shot. Most of my stand setups are designed to keep the shot under 30.

Most of us try to keep shots under 30. A few, with a ton of practice. will push it a little farther. BTW, Welcome to the Family.camoman wrote:My ladder stands are set up about the same distance. I was hoping to get a little more range with the crossbow because I plan on trying out stalking this season.
