need help with shot placement

Post by strum »

well guys i finaly got a doe this eve..
What i never told yall was i had shot one about three weeks ago and never recovered it,,realy bummed me ..but i kept practicing and hunting till this eve it paid off..
i had 8-10 does in a field 75 yards away and when they exited i figgured i would not see em again..well about 20 mins later they all came right under my stand headed into the woods. this one kinda messed around too long..
i took my time and waited till it was 20 yards quartered away and let the gt2 with the wasp fly..deer went maybe 40 yards..I have shot many deer but this felt like my first!!
Cross bow hunting with the excalls is awsome..
oh and thanks for all yalls advise ..it realy helped..

Good shooting!!!!!!!!!!

I've actually only tried a heart shot once in my years of crossbow hunting. And it's a good thing I did that one time! The mechanical failed to open but punched a neat hole through the heart and the deer went down quickly. It was a case where I knew the exact range, had a good rest, and the perfect shot angle. That doesn't happen too often for me!

Nice shot and congrats on your deer! That's a pretty nice pic!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

You should have used a broadhead that costs twice as much as the Wasp SST. Then your deer would have only gone 39 yards  .
