The Ibex claims another buck!
Not by me, though.
My husband, Dave, now has the Ibex and was 'still hunting' in some very thick stuff. Around 11:am he spotted a buck traveling along the fence coming right toward him. The terrain was such that he was able to find a low spot behind a tree. Dave stooped down behind a tree and watched the buck wander through high and low spots for a while before taking off his pack and getting his grunt call out hoping to keep him on course. Two grunts and the deer started coming his way again. Since he is new to crossbow hunting, he found himself too close to the tree to shoot without smacking a limb when he picked up his bow again. Now the decision: right side of the tree or left side of the tree. Back up, keep the tree between him and the deer, look through the scope…..now peek. The deer is looking right at him. It's a stare-off and the bow is getting heavy. Finally the deer decided there is nothing interesting here and proceeded to turn and walk away. The deer was 20 yards away and Dave squeezed the trigger for a perfect quartering shot behind the shoulder. There was a hollow thump.
The deer didn't jump, kick or run. It walked away.
Dave slowly gathered all his stuff and quietly backed out to walk back to camp.
After hearing his story, we waited a couple of hours and went back to see if we could find the buck. The blood trail was not bad for a ground shot and it led us right to the buck that walked 90 yards before dropping. The 100 gr Slick Trick did it's magic with a perfect shot.
Dave sends a message: Thank you Excalibur, John for his arrows, Awshucks for his rangefinder mount, Groundpounder for his quiver mount, Boo for his string and New Guy for his NGSS.

Orange Tigers seems to be responsible for quite a few deer this year. Good going!

Way to go! That's a beautiful buck and a great hunting story. Thanks for sharing it with all of us!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4
