Not mine but a buck taken in PA archery season. Antler restrictions must be working.

Auto
How do you judge the age of a deer?

This year there was so much rain, I'm sure there are some big racks up this way.

Have seen does but no bucks yet. Today we got at least 6 inches of wet snow. But it should all be melted by the weekend. Maybe some of the big fellows will stick out and easier to see.

That is one impressive rack!

antler restrictions probably help but what helped that deer more than anything is avoiding hunters for more than 5-7 years... I cant tell the age of that buck but he's over 5.5 years of age.

antler restrictions would probably help with more in the line of a lot of 3.5 year old 120-150inch deer being shot. But as far as a 200 incher goes he's just been hiding well for some time.. 8)

That buck had all the stars line up on that fella. Good food and genetics and some age but it does not mean that every 5 to 7 year old buck is going to be over 200 inches that is for sure. Lots of deer die of old age and never see 140 inches. That is truly a giant and a buck of a lifetime. They say the Milo Hanson buck is a three year old , so you never know.
