Extra string for STS system

Post by fawndaddie »

I just bought the STS for my Phoenix. They give you some extra bowstring which i think is to serve the bowstring that makes contact with the STS bumper. Could i use waxed bowstring thread(that i used to tie in a peep for my compound) for this or would it be better to buy actual serving string? Any help would be welcomed. Thanks

Unless you just want to put the extra serving on your bow string, it is not really necessary. As long as you keep your bow string sitting just off of the bumpers or just barley touching them it will not damage your string to fire it without adding the extra serving they send with the STS.

Hi, when I bought my STS Bumpers for my Exomax the string was making contact with the bumpers. I thought that was the way it should have been. In fact the string was making a little pressure against the bumpers.

My string broke after a few shots and I made a fool of me

Now I have a fast flight string that I just installed on my excal
How far the string should be from the bumpers in order not to make a fool of me again?

Thanks

I would like to know where to get the sts as well. I have seen a different model at Bowhunters super store and I assume this new one is the new improved model. I love my Vortex and am amazed how accurate it is,but I would love to have the sts on it to see if it really works. I am new to crossbow hunting and the noise takes a little getting use to! I have alse seen another system on another archery site as well but would prefer to stick with the Excaliber brand.

If you're wanting an STS, wait, Excal will have them out in 2011......

I have a STS system on my Exomax and it really works. I can't remember the last time I felt vibration on my crossbow and the sound is like a rifle with silencer
And I don't have to mention that your Vortex will look very cool 8) .

Just a piece of advice, always leave a gap between your string and the bumpers. If you have a string made of dracon is more important than ever to leave this gap, because this kind of strings are more elastic and hit harder de bumpers. So leave the gap, otherwise your string will broke. It happened to me  And everbody saw it

I bought my STS at Bowhunters super store.

Thanks for the feedback and advice. The sts from bowhunters super store is different than the latest one pictured on the website right??? Also do you use string silencers as well??? From what i am hearing the sts is a great add on.

I don't use silencers on the string but on my limbs, close to the front end. Also use
Tunerz silencers on the stirrup (I think they must help on something).
The STS on the photo on bowhunters superstore is the one I bought.
