My dad has an older Exocet with the carved limb tips? I'm trying to help him get the most out of it. Any suggestions, like a different string etc?
He will be using Easton aluminum arrows with a 100gr mech b/h.
Thanks
Merry Xmas to all.
How to make Exocet faster?
Re: How to make Exocet faster?
You can purchase mag tip seconds (paint blems) from Excalibur and use a fff string to gain some speed. Also, on my older one I machined and tapped a 1" aluminum block to fit between the rail and riser. This gave me 1" more stroke and an additional 25-30 fps between the mag tip limbs and spacer.

Remember that CARVED TIP LIMBS (edited to correct mis print) must use DACRON STRINGS. Going with the faster strings will eat up the tips on your limbs.
Generally the speed from your bow is generated in direct ratio from the Draw Length. Some minor things might increase your arrow speed, but not by much. Also add-on's like silencers, limb covers ect will decrease speed. Arrow weight will also dictate some of the arrow speed.
Good luck

That's carved tip limbs that require dacron strings only.Tom wrote:Remember that MAG TIP LIMBS must use DACRON STRINGS. Going with the faster strings will eat up the tips on your limbs.

And Dutch is right, no real need to improve as long as it's still in good shape.

Re: How to make Exocet faster?
Only way to increase speed with that bow is a minimum weight arrow, say 350 grs. Having answered your question, I hasten to add that speed ain't everything.

Re: How to make Exocet faster?
For my carved tip Exocet with the old cast riser, I picked up a set of Magtip limbs from forum member here, a FF string from Boo and some custom (lighter) arrows from John. I've never shot it through a chronograph to tell you how many f.p.s. I've gained, but I can tell you that I had to adjust my scope because of a slightly flatter trajectory. The difference is not dramatic, it's just tweaked the performance a wee bit. The deer certainly have not noticed a difference; this dislike the before & after versions equally!
