Questions for Lumi-Zone Users

Does the Lumi-Zone have a black reticle with the lumination turned off? I've seen most other scopes with a black reticle but I did see one recently with no reticle until the power was turned on. Seems to me to be a bad idea to have scope that can not be used if the battery dies in the field. Man that would ruin my day if I was aiming at a huge buck and the reticle died.

yes black recticle when not turned on. I rarely turn on my the illumniation on my scope.
