Don't get in the stand when the winds 80klm

Post by BBDOWN »

Seen 4 deer this morning really nice 9 pnt at 31yrds but my stand is 20feet up and then came the wind and the tree was swaying 8feet to the left and right, kinda like a ride. When the deer left I got down picksd my underware out of my butt and came home. I'll gettom next time, but I have to whatch the weather.because I WAS ALONE.

I've done that before,it was so windy one time I got down & sat on the ground because I thought the tree was gonna blow over & I didn't want to be strapped to a tree when it fell.

And he didn't have to be harassed by Carnie's!!!

I do feel your pain though. I'm a big guy who's afraid of heights. But I try and overcome that when hunting out of 20' stands because I'd rather arrow a deer than sit on the ground...but ground blinds were made for heavy wind days!!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

I don't even like going in the woods when it's real windy. I know a guy that got hit by a big falling limb while walking through the woods bowhunting. He went from being a county sheriffs deputy to being on disability in a split second. Gary
