shooting sticks?

shooting sticks?
Do any of you ground blind hunters use a "shooting stick, or bipod" to steady the aim of your Excalibur?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: shooting sticks?
I use the Primos Trigger stick, I like it alot because unlike the others you can just squeeze the trigger to adjust it up or down if needed. It comes in the long version or the short.I got the long so I can use it from a standing position if needed. I paid $47 at walmart.com. Check it out I think you'll like it. Its a monopod.when sitting I lean it on an angle between my legs & lean it against one leg to help steady it & that works great.

I use the short Stoney Point stix. They collapse down pretty short and work well. One thing I learned was that I had to grip the forearm like I shoot normally or the bow would jump and loose lots of accuracy.

Re: shooting sticks?
Good point. I never thought about the recoil on the bow or the gun affecting accuracy.

If you're not part of the solution, you might be part of the problem.
Re: shooting sticks?
I have a camera tripod I converted and also a Remington shooting stick $26 at CTC or Walmart one that sticks in the ground

I have a monopod I use. I don't go up in the air so I always have monopod for both crossbow and gun hunts.

I say that if it's good enough for Jim Shockey, it's 10x good enough for me - Primos' Shooting stick it is !

Re: shooting sticks?
Has anyone used the "ready-shot" monopod?
It was recommended on another forum but when I googled it, only a photo and ordering instructions were included. It looks to be promising but there was no information on materials, usage, etc.

I've got one, but I hardly take it any more. To me, it's just something else to keep up with in the woods. The little natural blind I set in, I sit on my butt on the ground and can brace on my knees/legs.

I use "PoleCat" shooting stixs a lot even in portable stands. Long shots sometimes need to be steady...

Re: shooting sticks?
I've got a few things that I consider to be absolute musts when taking the kids AND when I'm laying in the weeds on sitting on the ground. I've got a Harris bi-pod that I have given credit for quite a few deer. I could not live without it. I bought it years ago for woodchuck hunting and didn't like it. I was on the prowl for a big buck here at the house and figured I would try it. Been in love ever since. I't's like 12" long collapsed (good for laying on belly) and 23"? open (good for sitting on your butt) It was on my weapon on the hunts below.
2009 - big buck while I was laying in ditch - crossbow
2010 - nice buck while laying under electric tower - crossbow
- 10 y/o son uses for ML hunting takes a nice doe
2011 - 11 y/o son 140" 13 pt while sitting on ground - crossbow
- 9 y/o son uses to take nice doe. 162 yards with ML

Arkie DIY. I've since stained the red oak. Slight notch on top for rail. No $.
