Hawke Sport HD IR 2-7x32

Post by houser52 »

I've been looking around at different single reticle scopes and saw the Hawke Sport HD IR 2-7x32 during my research. It's a variable 2-7X32 with illuminated reticle and adjustable objective. Looks pretty good in the pics.

Does anyone have this scope on their crossbow yet? If so how do you like it?

Thanks

I haven't yet but looking at the recticles the scope may be useless if you run out of batteries.

Can the reticle not be seen if the IR is turned off, even in the daylight?
Are other Hawk IR scopes like that too?

I called Hawk yesterday and was asking about another one of their scopes and the rep recommended this one. He said it's now being included with another brand of crossbow in a package deal.

Do you have any more details on the scope?

The Hawke 2-7X32 IR came today. Just opened the box and read through the instructions to get familiar with it. Here's a few pics just to give ya'll an idea of what it looks like.
It seems to be well built and solid. One thing I did notice right away is that it has some weight to it. It's heavier than the VariZone.
As a glasses wearer the fast focus eye-bell brought the reticle right into clear focus for me which is something I've had trouble with on other scopes.
I hope to get it mounted this week, get it sighted in and test it out.

The adjustable AO will focus down to 15'

The reticle is comparable in size and thickness to other rifle scopes that I have.

Let me know how you like it. I'm looking to upgrade my scope on my Axiom before next season. I havn't really decided on one yet,I was leaning towards the Varizone or Shadowzone.I want one that's adjustable.

Houser, even tho that's a 2x7, there doesn't appear to be any multiple range aim points on it. Is that correct?

If so, HHA Optimizer?

Sorry for bring up this old thread but I was shooting the Vortex with the
Hawke 2-7X32 HD IR this weekend and started experimenting with different magnifications, yardages and it's mil dot reticle.

It was the middle of deer season when I mounted the scope and didn't have time to experiment with it. I just sighted the scope for 25 yards and used it that way.

It was such a beautiful day yesterday I wanted to shoot the Vortex since it was feeling left out. Through trial and error I think I found the scope's best setting for my setup. The Vortex is shooting 20" 2117 XX75 arrows, Blazer vanes and 125 field points at 305 fps.

With the scope set on 4X and the cross hairs set at 20 yards I have aiming points out to 40 yards using the mil dot reticle. All of the yardages were measured with a rangefinder and I shot them all several times. Each time the arrows were spot on just by using the cross hair and mil dots. 20,25,30,35,and 40 yards.

I thought some of you might be interested in the scope and my experience using the scope's mil dot reticle.

you could look at a pin point scope by hawke mil dot diale up yardage by speed tape . set to your bows or it can be done with a range finder. great scope but it is a little on the heavy side bob
