Dissipator bars/unstringing ?

Post by thumper »

I'm gonna unstring my Vortex for the season. Do I take just the pads off or the whole bar ? I know it's early but I haven't had time to shoot in a few weeks so I figure I'm done till about July or August. Or do I not even need to unstring ? Just figured I'd let the pressure off the limbs.

I unstrung my vortex & ibex to give the limbs a break. Just remove the pads and you should be good. I looped my strings ends together with a bread tie so they wouldn't lose any twist & put the string, pads and screws in a zip lock baggy for storage.

Thanks abunch guys ! I was gonna put my string on the wall on 2 nails so it wouldn't loose the twists, just like on the bow. Is the baggie to keep the pads from drying up or just to keep it all together?

Thanks, I too usually want to see what something is made of. But I am fairly young, 37, and would like this bow to last the rest of my "useful" life, however long that may be, because this bow is AWESOME ! I do not however baby it when I'm hunting, I don't abuse it I USE it, just like my truck, guns, and tools. But I do take care of my stuff, I didn't get any of it for decoration ! I learned along time ago to save up and buy the best you can afford, it's cheaper in the long run. Thanks again for the input, oh yeah my bow was bought new in September if that makes a difference.

1....to keep it all together.
2....keep it all clean.

To unstring the bow certainly will not hurt it.

I would recommend 1 thing.
That is to buy a second string or have Boo make one for you.
Shoot this second string in and set it aside as a backup.
